Step 3: Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe
Clean your potatoes, leaving on the skin, then cut them into 1 inch squares.
Boil your potatoes in well salted water until they are soft when pierced by a fork.
Drain your potatoes and allow them to dry completely.
Cut off the top of your garlic bulb and drizzle with olive oil.
Place your bulb on a small oven safe dish and place in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes to roast the garlic.
Dig out the roasted garlic with a spoon and discard the outer layer.
Place your whole milk in a pot and allow it to warm until it bubbles slightly around the edge of your pot, then add your unsalted butter to your milk and allow it to melt.1
Warm the pot holding your cooked potatoes, then slowly pour the milk and butter mixture over the potatoes.1
Remove your pot from the stove and place it on a secure, heat resistant counter. If needed, double a kitchen towel and place the pot on top.1
Use your masher to gently mash your potatoes using a gentle rocking motion.
Put in a teaspoon of salt, a 1/4 teaspoon of white pepper and your roasted garlic in your potatoes.
Continue mashing your potatoes until they achieve a smooth appearance. Leave the potatoes lumpy or make them lump-free based on your mashed potato preferences.
