Ingredients:
7 eggs
1 cups milk
1 cups half and half
cup sugar, divided
2 tsp. vanilla
tsp. nutmeg
2 baguettes, ends trimmed, sliced, and dried (10oz. each)
cup flour
1/8 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. butter, melted
cup sliced almonds
tsp. almond extract
Preparation Directions:
~ Whisk together eggs, milk, half and half, cup sugar, vanilla and nutmeg in a large bowl. Toss baguette pieces in egg mixture and let stand for 5 minutes to absorb egg mixture. Arrange bread pieces in 13 x 9-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray, flat side down. Pour any extra egg mixture over bread. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 2 to 24 hours.
~When ready to bake mix together flour, cup sugar, salt, butter, almonds and almond extract in a small bowl. Sprinkle mixture over bread and bake at 375 degrees until topping is golden and bread is set, about 30 minutes.
~ Serve with your favorite syrup.
