How To Blanch Kale
Instructions
Prepare a water bath in the bowl with water and ice.
Wash the curly kale throughly.
De-stem and cut the kale into large pieces.
Fill pot about three-quarters of the way full with water and add a bit of salt to taste.
Bring water to a boil.
Add curly kale to the pot.
Place the lid on the pot.
Allow the kale to boil for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until the kale begins to wilt.
Strain the kale from the pot to remove all water.
Transfer the kale directly from the strainer into the water bath to stop the cooking process.
Stir the kale gently.
Drain the kale again in a strainer and remove any remaining pieces of ice.1
