How To Cut An Artichoke Heart

To start, you can either use prepackaged artichoke hearts from the store or cook and remove the heart yourself.
If you opt for the latter, start with a cooked artichoke and remove all the leaves. Set them aside so you can enjoy them later.
Using a spoon, clear away the flower (the fuzzy center part). This and the inner purple leaves are the only part of the artichoke that are not edible, so you can discard them.
With a knife, trim the brown part of the stem and base around the heart.
Chop the heart into bite-sized pieces and serve.1
